Tungabhadra Water Release for Kharif Crop Irrigation Currently Not Scheduled
In a recent announcement, the state government has mandated that all available water storage facilities will be designated solely for drinking water purposes. This decision aims to ensure the availability of safe and clean drinking water for residents, particularly in light of increasing concerns over water scarcity and contamination in various regions.
Officials highlighted that this measure is part of a broader strategy to manage water resources more effectively, amid rising demands from agricultural, industrial, and domestic sectors. The government will implement guidelines to monitor and allocate water, thereby ensuring that potable water remains accessible to all communities.
In addition, this directive is expected to lead to the development of new infrastructure aimed at enhancing water supply systems. Stakeholders, including local municipalities and water management authorities, are being engaged to assess current storage capacities and implement the necessary changes.
This initiative comes as part of the state’s ongoing commitment to public health and sustainability, following recent reports indicating potential shortages of clean water as a result of climate change and increased population pressures. The government is also expected to launch public awareness campaigns to educate citizens on the importance of water conservation and responsible usage practices.
