U.P. Launches River Rejuvenation Initiative to Enhance Rural Sustainability and Ecological Resilience

In Bulandshahr, the Neem River has been revitalized following a 29-kilometer restoration initiative funded by the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Local officials reported that farmers in the area actively participated in the project by voluntarily removing encroachments along the riverbank, contributing to the ecological recovery of the waterway.

The restoration project aims to enhance the rivers water flow and improve irrigation for nearby agricultural lands, which is expected to have a positive impact on local farming productivity. MGNREGA is designed to enhance livelihood security in rural areas through the provision of guaranteed wage employment, and projects like this not only support the economy but also promote environmental sustainability.
