Union Cabinet Approves Construction of New Railway Lines in Andhra Pradesh with Investment of ₹9,889 Crore

A new railway line measuring 198 kilometers between Rajahmundry and Visakhapatnam is projected to enhance connectivity to key ports in the region, facilitate access to popular tourist destinations, and increase freight traffic by an estimated 29.04 million tonnes per annum.

This development aims to bolster economic activities in Andhra Pradesh by providing a more efficient transportation route for goods and materials. Enhanced rail connectivity is expected to promote tourism in the area, attracting more visitors to scenic locations and historical sites. Additionally, the increase in freight capacity could support local industries, reduce transportation costs, and improve supply chain efficiency.

The completion of these railway lines is part of a broader initiative to modernize Indias railway infrastructure, align with the governments Make in India program, and support sustainable economic growth throughout the region. Further details on the anticipated completion date and construction phases are expected to be released by the Indian Railways in the coming months.
