VCK Reaffirms Focus on Southern Tamil Nadu Ahead of 2026 Assembly Elections

The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), a political party in Tamil Nadu, was established under the leadership of Thol. Thirumavalavan after he succeeded A. Malaichamy as the head of the Dalit Panthers Iyakkam (DPI) in Madurai in 1989. Thirumavalavan, a prominent figure in advocating for the rights of Dalits, transformed the DPI into a formal political entity focused on addressing issues of social justice and equity for marginalized communities.

Over the years, VCK has participated in various electoral contests and has aligned with different political coalitions in Tamil Nadu, including the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) during assembly elections. The party aims to empower Dalits and other oppressed groups, advocating for policies that promote social and economic advancement. Its activities also involve raising awareness about caste discrimination and working to foster a more inclusive society.
