Veerashaiva-Lingayat Leaders Request Proportional Representation in Rajya Sabha

The terms of four members of the Rajya Sabha, Indias upper house of Parliament, are set to conclude on June 25, 2024. The members whose terms will end are Mallikarjun Kharge, a senior leader of the Indian National Congress and currently serving as the party president; H.D. Deve Gowda, a former Prime Minister and leader of the Janata Dal (Secular); K. Narayana, representing the Communist Party of India (Marxist); and Eranna Kadadi from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
