Vishus Impact on Hotel and Catering Industry Remains Limited
**Less Than Half of Hotels Offer Vishu Sadya, Reports KHRA President Amidst Decreased Foot Traffic**
According to the President of the Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association (KHRA), fewer than half of the hotels in the region are prepared to provide the traditional Vishu sadya, a popular festive meal in Kerala that marks the celebration of the Hindu New Year. The president highlighted that the stifling heat during this season has further exacerbated the situation, contributing to a noticeable decline in foot traffic at local establishments.
Vishu, celebrated in April, typically sees an increase in demand for traditional feast offerings as families come together for the occasion. However, with increasing temperatures and varying customer preferences, many hotel operators are facing challenges in catering to this demand.
In response to the conditions, some hotels are exploring alternative offerings or promotions to attract visitors despite the heat. Industry experts suggest that providing cooling solutions and special offers might be necessary to enhance guest experiences during the warm season.
The KHRA continues to encourage establishments to embrace traditional culinary practices while also adapting to changing customer needs. As the festive period approaches, the association remains optimistic that more hotels will rise to the occasion to enhance the celebration of Vishu for tourists and locals alike.
