Vizhinjam Port Reports Significant Cargo Growth Despite Global Shipping Disruptions

The seaport successfully handled approximately 1.3 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of cargo in its first financial year of operation. This milestone comes amid significant global shipping disruptions influenced by the ongoing crisis in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime corridor for international oil and trade. In addition to the impressive cargo throughput, the port achieved a record by accommodating 61 vessel berthings during this period, indicating strong operational capacity and efficiency. Furthermore, the port transshipped 118,000 TEUs of cargo, underscoring its strategic role in regional and global trade logistics. The successful performance of the port is expected to enhance trade connectivity and stimulate economic growth in the region.
