Maharashtra’s Minister for Fisheries and Ports Development provided an update on advancements in the maritime sector during the recent ‘Maharashtra Infrastructure Conclave 2026’ hosted by The Hindu.

During the event, the Minister highlighted key developments in port infrastructure, emphasizing improvements aimed at enhancing trade and transportation efficiency along the states coast. Initiatives discussed included the expansion of existing port facilities, investment in digital technology for better logistics management, and environmental sustainability efforts to protect marine ecosystems.

The Minister also noted collaborative efforts with both public and private sectors to boost maritime activities and create job opportunities in coastal communities. Maharashtra, with a significant coastline of over 720 kilometers, plays a crucial role in Indias maritime economy, and these steps are expected to position the state as a leading hub in the maritime industry.

Furthermore, the state government is looking to attract further investment in the sector, with plans for new freight corridors and enhanced connectivity between ports and inland transportation networks. These developments aim to support the overall growth of Maharashtras economy and improve trade competitiveness on a national level.
