Full-Body Scanners Under Trial at Four Metro Airports; BCAS Recommends Installation in Srinagar, Jammu, and Ayodhya
Scanner trials initiated in May 2026 in major Indian airports, including Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Kochi, will proceed for a duration of three months. These advanced scanners are designed to enhance passenger security while significantly reducing the need for physical searches.
Airports that handle more than five million passengers annually have been mandated to install these screening devices as part of the wider effort to streamline security processes and improve the overall travel experience. This initiative is part of the Indian governments ongoing commitment to modernize airport security and enhance safety measures amid growing passenger volume.
The implementation of these scanners is anticipated to facilitate a quicker boarding process and alleviate congestion at security checkpoints. If successful, this program may be expanded to other airports across the country.
