Heatwave Alert in Andhra Pradesh: Piduguralla Reaches 47.6°C, Over 45°C Recorded in 11 Districts

On Thursday, a total of 74 mandals in the state are expected to face severe heatwave conditions, while an additional 232 mandals are predicted to experience general heatwaves.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heatwave warnings, indicating that temperatures in some areas could reach dangerously high levels. Heatwaves are defined as prolonged periods of excessively hot weather, which can have significant health impacts, particularly for vulnerable populations such as the elderly and those with preexisting health conditions.

Officials advise residents to take precautions against the heat, including staying hydrated, avoiding strenuous outdoor activities during peak hours, and utilizing protective clothing and sunblock. Government agencies may also be mobilizing resources to provide support and relief to those affected by the extreme temperatures.

This forecast comes as the state continues to experience warmer-than-average temperatures, a trend that has been noted in recent years, potentially linked to ongoing climate change.
