Tamil Nadu Cabinet Expands to 33 Members as Congress Joins Government After 59 Years

The cabinet led by Chief Minister Vijay is expected to see another round of expansion soon. The Tamil Vizhuthugal Katchi (TVK) has reportedly extended an invitation to the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) to join the cabinet. Both parties are part of the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance and each holds two seats in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.

This development suggests efforts to strengthen alliances and broaden the cabinets representation within the ruling coalition. The inclusion of VCK and IUML would potentially enhance the collaborative governance approach emphasized by the alliance. Observers note that any expansion may also aim to address specific regional or community interests, reflecting the diverse demographics of Tamil Nadu. Further announcements regarding the cabinet expansion are anticipated in the coming weeks.
