U.S. Imposes Sanctions on Indian Company and CEO for Alleged Role in Sudanese Civil Conflict

The U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has reported that certain networks are facilitating the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in escalating the ongoing civil conflict in Sudan. These identified networks are believed to provide critical support to both military factions, significantly contributing to the prolonged violence and instability in the region.

The situation in Sudan has deteriorated since April 2023, when clashes erupted between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF, leading to widespread displacement and humanitarian crises. Numerous reports indicate that civilians are bearing the brunt of this conflict, with millions affected by violence, food shortages, and a lack of essential services.

OFAC’s actions aim to undermine the financial and logistical support that these military factions are receiving. The U.S. has been actively working with international partners to address the human rights violations occurring amid the violence and promote peace in the region. Increased sanctions and targeted measures are part of ongoing efforts to restore stability and support humanitarian assistance in Sudan.
